In his eleventh Independence Day speech on the Pink Fort on Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushed for a secular civil code, saying it was the “solely manner” to finish discrimination.
“It is going to take time to enact secular civil legal guidelines and repeal discriminatory communal civil legal guidelines,” the Prime Minister stated in a nationwide deal with.
Prime Minister Modi’s assertion got here within the backdrop of the Centre’s constant dedication to the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which House Minister Amit Shah termed it as an assurance from the Prime Minister.
