
Venezuela’s authorities says opposition presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez has left the nation and sought asylum in Spain.
Mr Gonzalez has been in hiding and a warrant was issued for his arrest over his insistence that he was the reputable winner of the July election.
Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez mentioned on social media: “A couple of days in the past, González Urrutia requested political asylum from the Spanish authorities after voluntarily taking refuge on the Spanish Embassy in Caracas. .
She added that Caracas had granted him secure passage and that he had left.
