
The Boston Purple Sox on Friday named left-hander Wealthy Hill — the most important league’s oldest participant at 44 — and promoted considered one of their high prospects, right-hander Louis Grey Luis Guerrero.
On August 15, Boston signed Hill with the minor leagues as a free agent, after which he joined his hometown staff for the fourth time. Hill turned the one lively participant to seem in a significant league sport up to now 20 seasons, coming off the bench in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on August 29.
Hill went 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 3 2/3 innings in 4 aid appearances, with three walks and 5 strikeouts.
He has a profession file of 90-74 with a 4.01 ERA, 543 walks and 1,428 strikeouts in 1,409 innings in 386 video games (248 begins). Hill has performed for the Chicago Cubs (2005-08), Baltimore (2009), Purple Sox (2010-12, 2015, 2022, 2024), Cleveland (2013), Los Angeles Angels (2014), New York Yankees ( 2014), Oakland (2016), Los Angeles Dodgers (2016-19), Minnesota (2020), Tampa Bay (2021), New York Mets (2021), Pittsburgh (2023) and San Diego (2023).
Hill’s appointment opens a roster spot for the 24-year-old Guerrero, who’s ranked No. 28 in Boston’s system by MLB Pipeline.
Guerrero has 79 strikeouts (13.09 strikeouts per 9 innings) and a 3.31 ERA in 42 video games with Triple-A Worcester this season. He has allowed one run in his final 10 video games since Aug. 4 and has a 0.68 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings.
The Dominican Republic native moved to Boston as a baby and grew up within the space. The Purple Sox chosen him within the seventeenth spherical of the 2021 MLB Draft.
