
New England Patriots linebacker Ja’Vaughn Bentley will miss the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle, a number of media retailers reported Monday evening.
Bentley suffered what was initially described as a shoulder damage through the first quarter of Sunday’s 23-20 additional time loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Earlier Monday, ESPN initially reported that the situation was not believed to be severe.
The Patriots (1-1) are on a brief schedule, with Bentley reportedly anticipated to face the New York Jets on Thursday.
The 28-year-old will now function an observer for the rest of the season. Within the first two video games of the season, Bentley had 12 tackles and one sack.
In seven NFL seasons with New England, Bentley had 509 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 4 pressured fumbles in 83 profession video games (68 begins).
