St Mirren defender Sean Rooney has been charged with assaulting a lady and breaching the peace on a person in a takeaway store in Glasgow metropolis centre.
The Scottish Premiership introduced on Thursday that the 28-year-old had been suspended “precautionally” after reporting the incident to his boss.
In an announcement, St Mirren vowed to “conduct a full investigation” and would “make no additional remark throughout this course of”.
On Friday, Police Scotland confirmed Rooney had been arrested and charged and was as a consequence of seem on the metropolis’s magistrates’ court docket later.
A police spokesman stated: “A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with breaching the peace by assaulting an 18-year-old lady and an 18-year-old man in a takeaway store. Queen Road, Glasgowearly morning Thursday, September 19, 2024.
